The Buena Vista City School Board strongly recommends that all student medication be administered at times other than school hours. In an effort to insure that students have the opportunity to attend class while requiring medication, the following procedures shall be followed:
- Parents shall provide the prescribed medication by a licensed physician in the original labeled containers, and send only the amount of medication needed.
- The school principal will provide a secure location for all medications, give prescription medication, and maintain medical records in the student’s file.
- No over-the-counter medication will be dispensed during the school day without parental permission.
- The students enrolled in high school will be responsible for reporting to the school office to obtain the prescribed medication.
